About the Markets

Hells Yeh! The Market Tales Returns!

Saturday May 20 & Sunday May 21
10.30 - 4.30

Excuse our French, but following a year-long chapter in the launch of the Market Tales, we have turned a page and are excited to announce its return with a star-studded line-up of pop-up restaurants and a newly curated team of quality makers and merchants across homewares, fashion, design, art, jewellery, furniture and vintage memorabilia.

Reminiscent of Portobello Markets and NY Williamsburg Market and sprinkled with the sights and sounds of the mercados in Spain, The Market Tales finds its home amongst the laneways of Sydney’s best-kept secret, Precinct 75 in St Peters.  Dubbed Inner West’s newest design central and fast becoming a key entertainment hub, the Precinct boasts retail homeware gems like Design Twins, The Society Inc, Atolyia and Quercus & Co and boutique alcohol artisans, Willie The Boatman and Urban Winery

The Market Tales is upping the ante in the culinary stakes, taking a lead in the food and beverage journey to showcase more of Sydney’s finest eateries.

Be entertained by local musicians and enjoy an eclectic program of workshops ranging from cool cooking demos, bread, paper, candle making, and macramé classes, just to name a few!

Expect the not-so-traditional stalls at every market with alcohol tastings, mo-trimming barber, braiding and a bike and repair shop doing the rounds of the quarterly offering.

On a serious note, the environmental management of the market is still key to the ethos of the markets and we, the Authors will strive to make every event a minimal waste event (which is no mean feat!).

The Market Tales is proudly kid, puppy and bike friendly too!

Market Authors

The Market Tales was founded by Anna Rizzo-Tassone and Elena Antoniou – both avid market hoppers and veteran PR maven’s.

The well travelled duo decided to combine their experience and bring to Sydney an internationally flavoured market benchmarked against European and New York food, design, art, music and flea markets.

With a strong philosophy to connect designers, makers, artisans and creators to an authentic audience who believe in craftsmanship and the story of its maker, the Market Tales will carefully curate each stall holder to allow the space and uniqueness of each brand to shine in a supportive and complimentary environment.

From food and beverage sampling, homewares, fashion, design, art, jewellery, furniture and food trucks, the Market Tales will create a journey to delight even the most cynical of senses.

In addition to this we are environmentally conscious and will be aiming to make this a minimal-waste event.
